The European Union Investigates Tickook related to Romanian Pilres
The Russians held a social media campaign to promote the candidate for President of Romania, Calin Georgascu, on the Pilpres 1 December 2024 ago.

Spasi-id.com. The European rule makers say that on Tuesday (17 / 12), they're investigating whether Tickook is violating the digital rule of the block, for failing to handle the risk of the Romanian presidential elections, with charges of election abuses and Russian interference.

The European Commission increased its surveillance on popular social media that shared the video, after the Romanian High Court canceled its first vote, causing anonymous right-wing candidates to be candidates.

The court made an unprecedented decision after the authorities in the EU and NATO state members in place of documents accusing Moscow of having a social media campaign to promote the candidate Calin Georgescu.

"Following serious instructions that a foreign offender intervened in the Romanian presidential elections using Tickook, we now investigate thoroughly, whether Tickat violated the Digital Service Act, for failing to address the risk," said the President of the European Commission Ursula on der Leyen in his press broadcast.

"Must be clear that on the UE, all online platforms, including Tickook, should be responsible."

The European Commission is an executive agency with 27 countries and established the Digital Services Act on that block, with a number of rules that aim to clear social media platforms and protect users from risks like election related information. Earlier this month, they asked Tickook to store all election related information.

In the early round of the vote on November 24th, Georgeschu was not among 13 candidates, but was at the peak of the polls. He was scheduled to face his rival pro- ue and reformist in the second round, before the court canceled the election.

The unclassified archive suggests that there was an "aggressive promotion campaign" to raise Georgescu's fame, including payment. $381,000 to the Tickook influencer to promote it on that platform.

Tick says it's "protect the integrity" platform in 150 elections around the world and continue to overcome "wide challenges in the industry." [ps / jm](VOA)
