Spasi-id.com, the Tickook threatened to be blocked in the United States on January 19, 2025. Looks like they're gonna take a pretty drastic step if this block isn't canceled.
As you know, last year the U.S. government passed a bill that could result in a national block, unless its parent companies sold the Tickook business in the US to the American company.
According to the Reuters and The Information report, Tickook plans to shut down his operations in the U.S. on Sunday if he fails to cancel those invitations and can't find a new owner. ByteDance's short video platform will shut down access to all users in the US.
That is, the user who already has a Tickook app on his phone won't be able to use that application again after blocking is in effect. Meanwhile, new users can't download an App Store or Google Play Store app.
Ticktock is forbidden
If Tickook is banned, the user who opened this application will see pop@-@ up messages leading them to websites containing information about this blocking.
It was actually revealed by the Tickook lawyer in the US Supreme Court hearing last Friday. The fate of Tickook is currently dependent on the US Supreme Court that will give the verdict within the next few days.
"We'll disappear. Basically, this platform is going to die," said the Tickook lawyer Noel Francisco in front of the U.S. Supreme Court last week, as quoted from Reuben, Friday (17 / 2025).
In fact, Tickook is not required to shut down the application completely. Tick is only required to not allow new downloads in the application store, so a provider platform like Apple and Google will eliminate the Tick in his application store.
Users in the US who downloaded the Tickook app should still be able to use that app as usual, but they won't get updates and can't access new features.
