The chief of BPOM, the Ikrar taruna says that the sample and test cosmetic products are found positive containing banned materials or harmful materials of mercury, retinoic acid, hydrokinous, red dye K3, red dye K10, acid dye 7, and lead.
The use of cosmetics containing banned materials and dangerous materials can pose health risks for consumers. Mercury can cause skin color changes in black spots, allergies, skin irritation, diarrhea, vomiting, and kidney damage.
Then the red dye K3, the red K10, and the orange acid 7 is carcinogenic or causes cancer and can interfere with liver functions. Finally, lead on cosmetics can damage organs and body systems.
"Against proven cosmetic products containing banned materials and / or dangerous materials, BPOM has revoked edar permits and has done temporary dismissal (PSK), covering the cessation of production, circulation, and import," said the Ikrar taruna as quoted in the official BPOM website.
