Sydney, Spasi-id.com - Australia suffered a shortage of labor in 2022. That's because after going through bad conditions in 2020 and now the economy has recovered.

But the sign of economic revival is also followed by growing scarcity of workers. The impact on all businesses only takes fewer jobs or even closes because of lack of staff.

To address this issue, the federal government is considering increasing its annual migration intake into between 180,000 and 200,000, from the current limit of 160,000.

Last year, the largest source of permanent immigrants was China and India, each about 22,000 people. Another migratory nation followed by Britain, Philippines, Vietnam, the United States and Nepal.

Australia's primary workforce is between information tech workers, doctors and nurses, and hospitality workers, trade and manufacturing.

The Australian Business Council has asked the federal government to ease and accelerate skilled immigrants to be employed and get permanent homes.

Australia's unemployment rate is at 3.5 percent or lowest in nearly 50 years. The unemployment rate is expected to drop below 3 percent.
