Jakarta, Spasi- id.com - parrot bird landed in the window. Of course almost every Indonesian knows the lyrics of that song. The presence of that song did not escape the cleverness of a parrot.
The parrot that evolved 95 million years ago on the ancient Gondwana continent was some of the smartest birds there.
The parrot is known as one of the smartest animals. The term "smart parrot" doesn't just appear.
"They are equivalent to chimpanzees in terms of intelligence," said the bird expert Professor Gisela Kaplan of the University of New England, quoting compas.com..
It's because they pack a lot of neurons into their brain, which is arranged in such a way that allows complex processing.
"It encouraged this animal to use one foot instead of the other. And this yellow gumshoe is left-handed,
"They can balance themselves with one leg while they eat with the other," went on Gisela.
They're also able to learn all sorts of new things that help them survive in different environments, even in cities.
Kakatua yellow spool is one of the key species that targets the Big City Birds scientific project, which learns how smart birds can adapt to living in cities.
For example, some cockatoos have learned how to open a trash can to find food and open a tap when they're thirsty.
It seems that bird is learning this skill by imitating other birds.
This project asks citizens to report all aspects of bird behavior, for example when they're playing, attacking, to open the trash.
