But there's also, you know, compress people with fever using cold water that they put in their armpits. So, how do you compress properly to lower fever? Here's an explanation from the medical experts.
Pushing fever using warm water. To cite Irene Anindyaya's daughter's explanation with a dr. Andrew Wilson, as quoted from Hello Health's page, cold compressions may have worsened the fever.
Cold compressions will make the body detect temperature changes as a threat to the natural process against the infection possessed by the body. Because, the body has a natural reaction, which is to raise the temperature to fight bacterial infections and viruses, this is called fever.
When the body is charged with cold compressions, the body will only add temperatures to counter infection. Therefore, the fever will get worse and the body will shiver.
And so, it's highly unrecommended to compress the body with cold water or even shower with cold water in fever.
To ease the fever, use warm water that's not too boiling to wet the fabric to use for compressions.

"If the fever, the right one is a warm compress of water because pores on the surface of the skin will open and blood vessels will widen out of heat," said dr. Devi.
Step-step compress fever with warm water
To quote the Halodoc that dr. Fadhli Rigal Makarim, following steps to reduce body temperature during fever with warm water.
Prepare soft cloth and basin or bucket of warm water,
The warm water must not boil,
Soak the cloth in warm water and fold it into a compress,
Put the cloth on the side of the armpit.
Change the cloth when it gets cold.
Aside from the compressions, Fadhli also advocates medicine, enough rest, and gives hot food like soup.
